80th Independence Day was celebrated in the STJIT campus with patriotic fervour. Capt. B. J. Hiremath (Retd) of the Indian Army hoisted the national flag at 7.45am followed by the National Anthem.

In his address, Capt. Hiremath called upon the audience to be disciplined, determined and dedicated to the task of nation building through the medium of Engineering. He also exhorted them to visit the Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala village, Ferozepur, Punjab, where the British secretly cremated Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru after their execution on March 23, 1931.

The Director, in his presidential address, made a fervent appeal to all gathered to uphold the values bequeathed by the freedom fighters who made a supreme sacrifice. He also explained the fine difference between freedom and independence.

On this occasion, the Hiremath couple were warmly felicitated. Earlier, Principal Dr Maheshwarappa B welcomed and finally, Smt. Bhavana Patil thanked the Chief Guests and all present.

International Youth Day (IYD) was befittingly celebrated in the Main Seminar hall of STJIT Ranebennur on 12th August 2026 in the distinguished presence of Mr. Arya Siddesh, an eighteen-year-old accomplished dancer, athlete, and NCC Cadet who took part in the 2025 Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.

The theme of this year's IYD being "Different Contexts; Common Aspirations", the program was curated so that the students gathered in large numbers were treated sumptuously with different contexts.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Manjunatha Rangaraju, a thought leader on education, TEDx speaker and a mentor of Mr. Arya Siddesh. He called upon the youth to cultivate such morals which are eternally respected and that they should not fall prey to values systems which are prone to frequent changes like fashion trends.

Another context was presented to the young audience in the form of a presentation on Rotaract Club by its local President, Mr. Prasad Kallolimath, who emphasized upon inculcating the qualities of leadership, effective communication and service to society by becoming a member of the Rotaract Club which is a gateway to purpose networking for young adults over 18 years.

In the presidential address, The Director, STJIT, Ranebennur called upon the students to shed inhibitions, develop fearlessness and practice being charismatic at every available opportunity.

The program concluded with an energetic and moving dance performance by Mr. Arya Siddesh which received a roaring applause and a standing ovation from the audience. Dr Maheswarappa B Principal, STJIT, Ranebennur welcomed the dignitaries and Mrs. Bhavana Patil, Assistant Professor in CSE Department anchored the event and proposed vote of thanks.
